Another sunny and enjoyable afternoon's fencing at Hurlingham.
Sunday 2nd June turned into one of those beautiful summer days, the flowers were in bloom, the birds were singing, the sound of willow on leather from the nearby cricket pitch was interspersed with the ring of steel on steel and a polite A-La from the band of club members who made the journey to Hurlingham for this year’s Lefroy Cup. Club members fencing were: Mariette Mason, Sue Brooks, Rob Brooks, Anton Pollard, Phil Barbasiewicz, Al Barbasiewicz, Kola Ayanwale.
With bouches in operation, close fights and some unexpected victories, made for an interesting poule. Following the poule two fencers emerged equal on victories, Al and Anton having dropped only one fight each fought off in a barrage. Al winning the barrage 5 - 3.
Refereeing was Howard West and Pat Casey, the trophy was presented to the winner by Pat Casey. Among the many spectators was Club President David Partridge, Vice President Andrew Brannon, James Noel, and David Worsfold.
On completion of the fence, we retired to the bar for a well earned glass of chilled wine!
