New Year Message from the President

Dear  Member,

As you know the Club has been dormant in 2020 – as has fencing in general – and the hope is that 2021 will see a return to normal activities. Therefore we have published an aspirational Club Calendar for the year which has been agreed with the Naval Club, the Hurlingham and the Leon Paul Centre. Perhaps these dates could be lightly pencilled into your diary.  They can now be found on the Club website (Members Portal) [sic] where updates to confirm / cancel them will appear nearer the time.

The Epée Club Charity has also seen much reduced activity and sponsorship, although GB elite training is continuing. Looking at 2021, the Trustees and the British Epée Development Committee have put together a generous budget of £17k to sponsor our epéeists and coaches for both the run up to Tokyo 2021 and looking forward to Paris in 2024. However, the income needs a boost (like Micawber, our expenses currently exceed our income) so please reach for your mouse or cheque book if you feel generous. Details are on the Charity website.

The Club will continue to persue its objective “of encouraging the use of the epée de combat” hopefully more actively in 2021. May we all fence, meet and eat together soon.

 With best wishes

David
