Dear David,

I was delighted to receive your letter reminding me that I have now been a member of the Epee Club for over 50 years and inviting me to be a guest at the AGM and Lunch at the RAG on Saturday, October 16th.

Sadly, I am approaching my 90th birthday in about two months time, and am not quite as mobile as I was in 1971 and, with much regret, must decline your kind invitation.  However I must add, how glad I have been to be a member of the Epee Club for so long and to have enjoyed its activities over the years and its support for English Epee fencing.

You may be interested in the attached picture of the English Quadrangular fencing team in Cardiff in.1959 when Ian Spofforth and myself both fenced Epee for England and that year we won that great competition.  You may well remember some of the now mature names.   I started my fencing career at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, in 1946 and fenced all three weapons over the years, but travel worldwide in the RN limited my fencing career to some extent.

Please tell the Treasurer that I am very happy to continue to support the club and epee fencing in future with my annual subscription.

With my best wishes to you all

Colin
