EC MEMBERS SHOW THEIR METAL AT BVF CHAMPIONSHIPS
EC club members showed their skills by taking a host of medals at this year’s BVF (Epee) Age Group Championships held at the Leon Paul Centre in London on Sunday 5th March.
Leading the way were Steve Bateman and Marc Burkhalter winning Gold and Silver respectively in the cat 1, 40+ age group followed by Rob Brooks and Lawrence Burr who took the Gold and Bronze medals respectively in the Cat 4, 70+ age group.
A Gold medal also went to Georgina Usher in the Cat 2, 50+ Women’s Epee and a Bronze medal to Sue Uff in the Cat 4, 70+ age group.
Keeping up the standard were Kola Ayanwale and Steven Domek who shared the third place position in the Cat 2, 50+ Men’s Epee age group and Neal Mallett who took the Bronze medal in the Cat 3, 60+ age group.
Also competing were club members Sue Brooks, Mariette Mason, Nigel Fancourt, Chris Howser and Anton Pollard. Part of the refereeing team for the day was Malcolm Alton, club president David Partridge was amongst the spectators, and a special mention goes to EC club member Jon willis who, with his team at the Leon Paul Fencing Centre, organised the day and kept everything moving smoothly.
