Ranelagh Survives the English Summer
Despite the threats of heavy rain and high winds in London on Saturday, and with early maintenance to remove the standing water, five Club members took to the piste for the Ranelagh Cup at the Hurlingham Club. Alain Barbasiewicz, Rob Brooks, Mariette Mason, Anton Pollard and Lawrence Burr fought for the first to ten hits.
Following some closely fought fights the decider came down to the two undefeated protagonists Rob and Alain, with Alain running out a comfortable winner. Pat Casey presented the trophy. Our thanks to Pat and Howard for refereeing, Sue Brooks for keeping score and deciphering the almost invisible lights of the scoring apparatus. Supporting the action was our Hon President David Partridge along with Alex Brooks and Lizzie Stack.
The rain held off for the duration and all retired to the tea room for refreshments.
