Johan Vilhelm Torolf "Thorold" Praem 1889 - 1967

Thorold Praem passed away in January after a long illness at the age of seventy-seven. He came to England from Denmark in 1919 and while establishing himself in business continued his passionate interest in fencing as a pupil of Tassart.

Praem was a sound and thoughtful fencer with the foil and épée. He fenced with monumental patience, and he competed regularly in open  events winning the Coronation Cup in 1939. He was a great supporter of the Epée Club for many years and his genial and charming manner made him many friends in the fencing world.
