Members out in force at Guildford International Veterans Competition.
With only a few days to recover from the rigours of Xmas and New Year, and the deteriorating weather conditions a total of 17 EC members competed in this year’s Guildford International / European Veterans Fencing competition held last weekend at the Spectrum Arena.
Leading the EC members medal table was British Fencing CEO Georgina Usher with a gold medal in the Cat 2 (50+) Women’s Epee.
A Silver medal went to Sue Uff in the Cat 4 (70+) Women’s Foil, Sue also competed in the epee and sabre competitions.
Double Bronze medals went to Susan Brooks (70+) Women’s Epee and the Women’s Foil (70+)
Bronze medals in the Men’s Epee went to Greg Allen Cat 2 (50+), Rob Brooks Cat 4 (70+) and to Hugh Kernohan Cat 3 (60+). Hugh’s result is all the more remarkable as only one other British fencer made the last 16 in this event.
